Normas apícolas en Colombia
Apiaries of Apis mellifera and of native stingless bees are registered with the Colombian Agricultural Institute (ICA) on form 3-1598, at any local ICA office (not the Bogotá head office), through the movement-permit partners, or by e-mail; ICA issues a registration certificate (form 3-1599). Beekeepers and stingless-bee breeders register themselves as producers too (Resolución ICA 19650/2022).
Migratory beekeepers list on the form the likely locations of the sites they will use — area, municipality, department, extent and contact — and registered beekeepers send ICA each year, before the season, the likely locations of their sites. Keeping native stingless bees needs a licence or authorisation from the environmental authority.
Registration is the basis for ICA's supervision of beekeeping, for Good Beekeeping Practice certification, and for proving official control when exporting bees or bee products.
