Beekeeping rules in Chile

You must register your apiaries in the National Register of Beekeepers kept by SAG, choosing one or more categories — production, pollination, selection and breeding, or other — and this is done through SIPEC Apícola (sipecweb.sag.gob.cl or any SAG office), with SAG asking you to declare your apiaries every October (Ley 21.489 Arts. 5-6; Res. Exenta 8.196/2015).

If you, a vet or a farm professional learns of a notifiable bee disease, you must report it to SAG, and SAG may declare sanitary control zones, quarantines and hive isolation, meaning you'll need its authorisation to move hives in those situations (Art. 10; Art. 11).
